Reflection:
Overall I enjoyed this project a lot. People are one of my favorite things to draw, so this was a fun opportunity to practice. I have never drawn a senior citizen before, so this was a bit of a challenge. I think that drawing the wrinkles was hard, but once I got the hang of it and figured out how to shade them, it was enjoyable. I thought that overall the proportions looked realistic on the person as well. Something I would do differently next time would be to try and make the lady a little bit lighter. I used tonal paper so she already had a base shade and it ended up a little bit dark. So next time that would be something I would work on.

Reflection:
Overall I really enjoyed this project. It was definitely a challenge for me because watercolor tends to be very difficult to layer and make things look realistic. I used lots of different reference photos to piece the final image together. I pulled elements from different skies and vineyard images. I ended up liking the way that the ocean looked in the back as well. Something I think that went well was the actual plants in the front. I like the way that the leaves are layered, and the depth that the plants look in the background as well. Something I think I could have done a little better was the hills in the background. I think I could have made those a little bit darker and added more detail to them. I think that would have made my piece pop. That is something I need to work on in general with watercolor, making my colors darker.

Reflection:
I think that I actually ended up really enjoying this project, even though I didn't think I would. I have worked with oil pastels in the past and didn't hate it, but it definitely isn't my preferred medium. I looked up different pictures of scales and tried to add my own colors to them. I think something that went well was the blending of the pastels and the color pallets. I wasn't too sure how the one on the right was going to turn out, but I ended up liking the variety of colors. Something that could have gone better was the overall time spent in the project and using different techniques to blend. I think if I spent a little more time, I could have made it look a little smoother and possibly neater. But overall, I enjoyed experimenting with these oil pastels.

Unit 4 Project
acrylic paint

Reflection:
Overall, I ended up really enjoying this project. A lot of the time when I attempt acrylic pain, I want to watch a guided tutorial. This project pushed me out of my comfort zone to do everything myself, and experiment with different techniques. Something I think went well was the buildings. I haven't ever painted a building before and I like the way that the color tones look. Something that could have been better is the bushes in the front. I think they could have looked more realistic. I also think I could have experimented more with the expressionistic color pallete, so that it looked even more anstract.

I am using this photo that I took driving down in Santa Cruz. I changed it up to make it more expressionistic. I changed the greenery in the front and the color of the sunset.
